If you are looking for fine dining and a great atmosphere in Cape Coral look no further than Brew Babies Garden Bistro. Tucked away on quiet Lafayette street in downtown Cape Coral, Brew Babies Garden Bistro is easy to miss but well worth looking for. This hidden gem has become one of the Cape’s best restaurants.
Upon entering the garden courtyard you find yourself surrounded by a lush tropical garden. The bistro tables with white linens and the sound of the water from a fountain in the center of an open patio immediately makes you feel at home. If the weather is not ideal you can also chose to sit at one of the two buildings on each side of the courtyard in which the space is broken into small and cozy areas.
Upon arriving we where quickly seated and the friendly and knowledgeable server explained the menu and specials. We started off with the gulf shrimp and baked escargot en baguette. My husband had the osso bucco and I tried the fresh gulf grouper. The dishes where not only delicious but also beautifully plated. The grouper was flaky, tender and had just the right balance of flavors and texture. The osso bucco, a northern Italian specialty made with veal shanks, had been slowly cooked to perfection. The meat coming away from the bone with a melt in your mouth softness, its sweet, meaty flavor a perfect match for its complex sauce redolent of tomato, lemon, herbs and wine.
We finished our meal with a tiramisu and a key lime pie. The key lime pie was my favorite, a perfect combination of sweet and tangy with a velvet soft texture. Other desserts include the moist and rich carrot cake and the creme brûlée and the chocolate lava cake!
The menu changes seasonally offering heartier dishes like the delicious New York stip steak while in the summer there are more seafood options. Originally conceived as a coffee shop by restauranteur couple Wayne and Valerie Elam Brew Babies has evolved and grown becoming not only one of the best restaurants in Cape Coral but also a leading jazz venue in Southwest Florida.
A rare and precious combination of great food made with fresh ingredients, an inviting atmosphere and live music this Cape Coral restaurant will quickly become a favorite. We have been here on a couple of occasions and both times the service was impecable.

Live music and great ambiance make Brew Babies the perfect place for a romantic dinner or for getting together with friends.
I had the opportunity to chat with Valerie Elam who described how the original idea for Brew Babies as a coffee shop evolved and morphed in response to the eatery’s clients, becoming one of Cape Coral’s favorite restaurants. This is a family business and you can just feel how everything in the restaurant has been made with love, from the food created by Wayne Elam himself to the soft and inviting jazz music played live by his incredibly talented wife, Valerie. When she is not performing Valerie joins Wayne in welcoming guests and making you feel right at home.
