A Laid-Back Escape in Naples: My Stay at Compass Hotel by Margaritaville

There’s something about a quick getaway that resets your mind, even when it’s just an hour from home. That’s exactly what I found at Compass Hotel Naples by Margaritaville. The extra space, relaxed atmosphere, and pet-friendly setup made it an easy and comfortable place to stay for a couple of days.

First Impressions

Walking into the lobby, I could already feel the shift into vacation mode. The bright colors, tropical decor, and music playing in the background set the tone right away. Check-in was quick, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed without any hassle.

Plenty of Room to Settle In

Every room is a suite, which made the stay feel even more comfortable. We had space to spread out, a kitchen to make quick meals, and separate areas for sleeping and lounging. The hotel offers different layouts, from studio and one-bedroom suites to two-bedroom, two-bathroom terrace suites that work well for families.

Having a kitchen made things more convenient since we didn’t have to eat out for every meal. Keeping fresh fruit and drinks in the fridge or making a quick breakfast before heading out made the stay feel more relaxed.

Since the hotel is dog-friendly, your pups can tag along too. With pet-friendly amenities and parks nearby, it’s easy to take your dog on walks and make he gets plenty of exercise.

Food and Drinks

The 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill fits right in with the hotel’s laid-back feel. The menu has a mix of seafood, burgers, and fresh salads, with plenty of options whether you’re sitting down for a meal or grabbing something by the pool.

Breakfast was included, which made mornings easier. Instead of rushing out to find a place to eat, we could start the day with a hot meal. There were eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and pastries, with enough variety to keep everyone happy.

Afternoons by the pool were another highlight. I spent time lounging in the sun, listening to live music, and sipping on a margarita while the kids played in the water. The pool area had plenty of space to relax, and it never felt too crowded.

Things to Do at the Hotel

Even if you don’t leave the property, there’s plenty to do. The poolside games kept things fun, and live music in the evenings added to the atmosphere. Special events like Jimmy Buffett Day bring in extra activities, so there’s always something happening.

Exploring Naples

Even though we enjoyed the hotel, we wanted to get out and explore. Naples has a great mix of beaches, shopping, and nature, so we made time for a few of our favorite spots.

  • Spent the morning at Clam Pass Beach. The soft sand and clear water made it perfect for swimming and relaxing. Walking along the boardwalk through the mangroves before reaching the beach added to the experience.

  • Browsed the shops at Waterside Shops. We took our time checking out boutiques, grabbed an iced coffee, and found a few souvenirs to bring home.
  • Walked through the Naples Zoo. This has been a favorite since the kids were little, and it’s still a fun way to spend an afternoon. We saw lions, monkeys, and alligators while strolling through shaded pathways.
  • Explored the Naples Botanical Garden. Walking through the 170-acre gardens felt peaceful and refreshing. We followed winding paths, took in the tropical plants, and stopped by the W.O.N.D.E.R. kids’ program, where they had hands-on activities based on the month’s theme.

This stay felt easy and stress-free. The extra space, friendly atmosphere, and little details like live music and an included breakfast made it a great place for a short getaway. Whether you’re traveling with family, bringing a pet, or just looking for a relaxed place to stay, Compass Hotel by Margaritaville makes visiting Naples feel effortless.
