A Perfect Weekend in Palm Beach: Beaches, Culture, and Great Food
Palm Beach, Florida, is an incredible destination for a weekend getaway. From stunning beaches and lush gardens to vibrant art districts and amazing food, it has something for everyone. If you’re visiting with teens, there’s no shortage of activities to keep them engaged while still giving you plenty of chances to relax and enjoy.
My 16-year-old son and I recently spent a fantastic weekend exploring the best things to do in Palm Beach. With its prime location, we stayed at the newly opened Delta Hotels by Marriott West Palm Beach, which was not only convenient but also comfortable and full of thoughtful amenities. From mornings filled with great food to afternoons exploring beaches and street art, here’s our curated itinerary for an unforgettable weekend in Palm Beach.
Day 1: Art, Beaches, and Downtown Exploration
Morning: Breakfast at The Dive at Delta Hotels by Marriott
We started our day with breakfast at The Dive, the hotel’s signature restaurant. The menu has something for everyone, with fresh and creative dishes that fuel you for a full day of exploring. I tried the Spanish Eggs Benedict, a flavorful take on the classic, with Serrano ham and manchego cheese. My son went for the Floribbean French Toast, which was perfectly sweet with tropical notes—he devoured it in no time. If you’re looking for something lighter, the Avocado Toast topped with poached eggs, heirloom tomatoes, and watermelon radishes is another great option.
Late Morning: Norton Museum of Art
After breakfast, we headed to the Norton Museum of Art, one of the top cultural spots in Palm Beach. This museum combines classic and modern works, offering something for every art lover. My son and I spent the morning wandering through the galleries, admiring everything from European masterpieces to thought-provoking contemporary installations.
The outdoor sculpture garden was a highlight for both of us. It’s peaceful and beautifully landscaped, with large-scale art that adds a creative twist to the natural setting. If you’re traveling with teens, this is a great place to inspire conversations about art and creativity—it’s as fun as it is educational.
Afternoon: Palm Beach Municipal Beach and Worth Avenue Clock Tower
After the museum, we drove to Palm Beach Municipal Beach, just a short distance away. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, with soft white sand and clear turquoise waters perfect for relaxing and cooling off. The iconic Worth Avenue Clock Tower, located at the east end of Worth Avenue, is the perfect photo spot. We snapped a few pictures with the ocean as our backdrop before spending some time enjoying the waves.
When we were ready for a change of pace, we took a walk down Worth Avenue, one of the most upscale shopping streets in the country. Even if shopping isn’t on your agenda, the Mediterranean-inspired architecture and hidden courtyards are worth exploring. It’s a beautiful area to stroll, grab an iced coffee, and soak in the Palm Beach charm.
Evening: Dinner and Street Art on Clematis Street
For dinner, we headed to Clematis Street, the heart of Palm Beach’s downtown scene. This area is full of great restaurants, street art, and a lively atmosphere that’s fun for teens and adults alike. We grabbed a meal at one of the local spots, where the mix of flavors and casual vibe made for a perfect end to our day.
After dinner, we explored the streets to admire the vibrant murals and public art. Each mural tells its own story, and we enjoyed discovering them one by one—it felt like a fun scavenger hunt. Clematis Street has a great energy at night, making it a perfect spot for walking around and taking in the city’s creative vibe.
Day 2: Gardens, Street Art, and Relaxing by the Pool
Morning: Breakfast at The Dive
We started our second day back at The Dive for another delicious breakfast. I couldn’t resist ordering the Avocado Toast again, while my son opted for the Spanish Eggs Benedict this time. The portion sizes were just right, and the flavors were so good that it made me wish we could have breakfast there every day!
Late Morning: Mounts Botanical Garden and a Picnic
After breakfast, we made our way to Mounts Botanical Garden, a peaceful 20-acre garden just 10 minutes from the hotel. This is one of Palm Beach’s hidden gems and a great spot for families or anyone who loves spending time outdoors.
We picked up sandwiches beforehand from Buccan, a popular local sandwich shop. Their prosciutto sandwich was incredible, and it was the perfect picnic meal to enjoy by one of the garden’s ponds. As we ate, we watched fish swim in the water and spotted birds like the Red-shouldered Hawk and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker—it felt like the perfect blend of relaxation and nature.
After lunch, we spent time exploring the themed gardens, from the Butterfly Garden to the Tropical Forest. The paths are easy to navigate, and the garden has plenty of shaded areas, which was perfect for a warm day.
Afternoon: Exploring the Arts and Entertainment District
In the afternoon, we headed to Palm Beach’s Arts and Entertainment District to see more incredible street art. This area is filled with colorful murals and hidden gems around every corner. If you’re traveling with a teenager, this is a must-do activity—it’s interactive, visually stunning, and great for taking photos.
The best part is that you can check the district’s website for a mural map, so you don’t miss any of the highlights. We wandered through the streets, pointing out our favorite murals and learning about the artists behind them. It’s such a fun way to experience the city’s creativity and culture.
Evening: Relaxing by the Pool and Dinner at The Dive
After a full day of exploring, we spent the late afternoon relaxing by the Delta Hotels by Marriott’s pool, surrounded by swaying palm trees and plenty of cozy lounge chairs. My son swam while I enjoyed a quiet moment to unwind, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.
Later, we headed to The Dive for a delicious dinner. I had the crispy Blue Grotto Calamari to start, followed by the flavorful Lobster Roll topped with key lime aioli, while my son enjoyed the chicken tenders—I love that they have a kid- and teen-friendly menu too! Dessert was the standout—a beautifully presented Chocolate Dome with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries, making it the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
Back in the lobby, we had fun playing a game of pool at the pool table. We finished the day watching a movie in our room, enjoying some much-needed bonding time and relaxing after an adventure-filled day.
